Beach Photoshoot, Summer of 2011

Yet another thing on my bucket-list.
It's never too late to suck!

All right, it's not so much a photoshoot as it is my attempt at capturing the right moment. And every artist knows, be it painter, or writer, or ballerina, that the right moment is anything but easy to capture. In photography, it's not just about the right angle and light. Sure, these help. But as I see it, it's also about feeling.

Catching a glimpse of an emotion, not just a posed picture, in a moment, forever frozen on film. It sounds like something perfectly doable but it's not. From hundreds of 'nice' shots, I sometimes get a handful of hits by accident, rather than talent or craft (because I have yet to take a course). So I'll give you some pictures I am rather fond of, some because they have spoken to me, others because I'd like you to see how happy my mum and I were on our little getaway together.

It's not every year that we take a trip to the beach and it's still our most favorite place in the world. And to be able to do it together means the world as well. So without further ado, I present my escapade of 2011.

Our terrace had a view of the sea... kind of.

When we got to the beach, a sleuth of clouds greeted us.

Naturally, my mother had a nervous laughing fit.

We followed the mysterious footprints.

Sun came out. Then the sea started rumbling.

I got obsessed with a boat... of course.

The red flag went up (didn't stop me from wave-jumping).

We got all tanned and happy (more like glib).

The beach got overcrowded with tourists.

And there's the boat again!

It was a happy, happy weekend.

Postcard anyone?
(What do you mean it's too blue?!)

Lovely photos... I especially love the one of the footsteps and the boat, the way the sun sparkles on the waves. I love taking photos like these, they have more meaning than professional shots!

Holy cow! This could not be more: romantic in a sole heartseeking solace sort of way...you all look like the sea took your worries...and filled your muse glasses! So glad you got to go.

Thanks, Suzy! Those are my favorite too. They kinda crept up on me. Gotta love it when moments do that. ^_^

Katherine!!! I'm so happy you stopped by to weave your web of beautiful words on my blog today. And yes, I definitely needed to recharge. Thanks!

Lyn! The photos you took were pretty wicked, especially the footprints in the sand. It looks like an uber-pro took it! And so many boats! I never knew you liked boats. TELL ME MOAR ABOUT YOURSELF!

Haha, thanks you guys!

So... I must frame this footprints picture, should I not? :P

Nah, I don't like boats this much but they make excellent picture subjects; they won't move or sulk, or complain, or look ugly. So much better than people! :D

Gorgeous shots. The boat would have drawn me in like a magnet as well.
