Yes, I did. Now, I promise this will be the last surprise I spring on you guys but it had to be done. Why did I change the title? Because I wanted a more personalized name and URL, and also because Kristen Lamb was right when she advised that every author should put their name in the title of their blog. Yes I know that Lyn Midnight is not my name but it’s the alias I go by when I write.

If you have read The Dark Half by Stephen King, you’d know how the author’s alias (Stark) came to life and tried to overpower the MC. While Lyn is not going anywhere near my power source, she is also not going anywhere, period. I can never leave her behind  because of our history together.

It’s she who started to write, not me. 

Check Your Manuscript with Wordle

So I've wanted to try this for a long time. Basically, I wanted to check if I was unknowingly abusing words, and immediately thought of Wordle. In Wordle.net you can make your own pretty clouds in all kinds of shapes. See how lovely mine are? The first looks like a bloated heart, the second like a big fat slug, and the last... well, it looks like a whale on support. 

If you click on them, you'll see the words clearly. Now to the point. What do these words represent? 

They are the words I have used the most in chapters of my current WIP projects. The first one spans the first 13 chapters of my scifi novel, the second the next 17 chapters (NaNo 2010), and the third my fantasy novel's lousy half of a first draft I did for NaNoWriMo in 2009. Ta da!

I am a very confusing person, so if you follow this blog, you have been warned!

First of all, my birth name is Violeta Nedkova. I am Bulgarian. And when I started writing Harry Potter fanfiction back in the old days (about 6-7 years ago), I desperately wanted a fancy pseudonym. I'm not sure why, maybe it was trendy or I just thought it was. 

So I picked Lyn Midnight because of a dream. It was a nightmare, mind you, but this did not stop me from adopting the name of 'Amanda Midnight', later somewhat morphing into Lyn Midnight. I found a lot of great online friends back then. I was a real part of the fanfiction community and made good, lasting friendships with interesting and talented writers from all over the world. And they all called me Lyn, which has continued to date.

Seriously, what's that about??? I'm trying to remember why in God's name I'd write something like that... to no avail.

Welcome to my Sassy New Blog!

I didn't create this blog to be yet another writing blog. I'll break out of the box a little. The only given in this case will be a dab of humor in (almost everything) I post. It adds flavor, don't you think?

What can you expect from my updates? For starters, I will post as I go. Any project I work on will be on here. If I read a book, you'll know if it's good or not. If I wake up in the middle of the night with an idea for a poem, I'll post it here, where else? If I discover any answers to fundamental questions, you'll be the first to know. 

Before that you need to know a few things about me. First, I am a writer. Second, I am currently working on two books: one is fantasy and one is paranormal / science fiction, just because I like to mix and (mis)match. Both are Yound Adult. I also write poetry. Occasionally, I'd publish an odd article. 

Now... I was pondering how I can bring something new to the writing table. I mean, some people bitch, others pray, third help... I decided that I will do my own thing: obsess about things that nobody really needs to obsess about, like PowerPoint templates, Poetry Portfolios, TV Shows, Writing Quotes, Philosophy, Twitter Updates, Movies, and pretty much everything else that comes to mind. Let the blogging commence!
