Haley Reinhart's Stellar Performances

I didn’t like Haley at first. At all. But then she started singing like crazy and I was hooked. She was that good throughout. Ever since Benny and the Jets, she has not disappointed me once. This is the makes of a true artist.

So I’m watching Haley do Alanis, and I’m wondering: How could she not have gone to the final? In Randy’s words: ‘What kind of a show is this?’ She alone delivered the whole package every single time. Seriously. I have two words for you. Standing. Ovations. When did Lauren get one? When did Scotty? And how many times did Haley get them from the judges and the audience? At least four times. In a row.
Come on, America. Did you wake up with ear plugs in your ears or did you leave your sense at the bank?

The Commercial Wave and American Idol

Haley Reinhart started slow, uncertain, like a scared child in front of a large mountain of ice-cream. But she scraped and crawled and ate the stage (bad metaphor much?) until she reached a point where outstanding performances rolled out of her sleeves and into our open hearts, warming us with her talent, professionalism, and unique rasp of a voice.

And that’s what I was talking about all along. She had all three tickets (gift, style, and craft) and was headed for the win, as it should have been. Naturally, she was shot down by the ‘Scotty and Lauren’ blob of zombie fans who wanted nothing more but to be further amused by the show they had forgotten was for talent, and not appearances or likability.

Now, Lauren Alaina illustrates perfectly how far you can go with a very generous genetic streak, unpolished and sweet, but a little short of greatness. I admit, her voice is spectacular. And for a while there, I thought it was enough.

American Idol 2011 Was Set Up

Apart from the obvious favoritism among the judges, the producers, and America by extension, another thing that struck me as unfair was the way the judges tried to guide the talents to ‘polish their skills’ and miserably failed, as all they provided for the idols were false praises and double-sided support.

Let’s face it. It is NOT normal for a professional to use the SAME phrase over and over until the world population falls into an irreversible coma until further notice. Or at least until the show is all over and it is safe to reemerge in a Randy-less existense again. You know what I’m talking about, right? ‘Innittowinit, innittowinit, innittowinit…’ It’s still ringing in my head. Sometimes, on a dark, cold night, I wake up screaming ‘The show’s over, Randy! LEAVE ME ALONE!’ And the screaming drags away into the night, reminding me that I am safe in my room, unperturbed by the T-dogs of the world.

Why American Idol Season 10 Sucked

All right. You might not agree with what I have to say. You might not like what you will read. But it has to be said. Plus you’ve probably heard it before, I’m sure.

American Idol Season 10 SUCKED!

Wait! Let me explain.

The American Idol Rant

What follows is my BIG FAT BULGARIAN RANT about American Idol, in parts. You’ll know when I’m all out of breath. A bit of an outsider’s perspective there in case you actually want it.

I followed the entire show and the Idols’ courageous steps on stage, hoping that I’d witness true talent and true greatness in the American Idol of 2011. Soon enough, I realized that wasn’t going to happen as every one of my favourites dropped away like flies on glass. So I decided that I’d rant about it seeing as writing is the only thing I can do, and my keyboard is my only weapon against this atrocity of a season.

Don’t get me wrong though, I loved (almost) all Idols and I have no personal vendetta against the judges or producers or anyone who’s associated with the show. However, I do have my issues with it and I’d like to voice them on my blog. What follows is a series of posts because how can I even begin to rant about American Idol in just one blog post?

Seriously.
