When the Heart Breaks

HEARTBREAK

I know, I know. It's a tough word to swallow. I'd be lying if I said it gets better in time, though it does in pushes and pulls. One step forward, two steps back. Then two steps forward, one step back. It's that deadly dance between lost lovers, which never truly finishes so long as they're both alive and in each others' lives.

One day, hopefully, there will be no stepping back. Though I'm not counting on it. Being human means to hold reflection. It's how we judge the world.

And so, I've looked and looked for a poem to capture this moment in time and how I feel sometimes (early in the morning, late at night), and I found this on an old Word document. Did I know back then what I would go through, or did I foolishly think this was beautiful and pure, with no dark tints between its fine lines?

This is for all of you out there who -sometimes- feel the same.

Heart! We will forget him!
You and I -- tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave --
I will forget the light!

When you have done, pray tell me
That I may straight begin!
Haste! lest while you're lagging
I remember him!

(Emily Dickinson)

So very true. My guess to you question would be a little bit of both. Even when someone has not yet felt it they dream of it. Thanks for dropping by my blog today. I like yours very much. After reading this I thought you like this one. Notice the short link. lol thanks for that as well.

Hey Lyn - I wanted to check this out from the link you sent over Twitter. I also grew up in Amherst, MA where Emily Dickinson lived. I was struck by your words, as I think you've written elloquently about how hearbreak feels, and what it's like lose someone you care about. Anyway, I just wanted to say that and thanks! twitter:@gabrielbarbaro

Oh hi Gabriel, I know you. :)Thank you so much for stopping by! Yes, unfortunately, I do know what it's like, I wish I didn't. But I guess it's what makes us stronger artists in the end. :)
Thanks again and I owe you a big hug over on Twitter. :)
